The Bequests brochure and information circulated with the February edition of Catholic People is an extension of the “Bequests Fortnight” instituted by the Bishops Conference of England and Wales last Autumn. Bequests are a vital source of income for all charities – not least the Church. As well as enabling good work to be carried on in the donors’ memory, charitable bequests can also reduce the tax liability due on many estates. Remember that the wording of a will is very important. The Diocesan Treasurer is able to advise on bequests to parishes so that they do not fail if ever challenged. “Be pleased to leave a legacy in your WILL”.
