Foodbank. During lockdown and beyond, many of you have chosen to support the Foodbank with monetary donations which have been an absolute godsend. On behalf of our clients thank you for your faithfulness and generosity.

As you are all acutely aware, the economic situation has become a serious worry for all of us and as energy prices sky rocket, along with food prices, those already living with ‘food poverty,’ are being pushed ever further into a situation where hunger stalks their every waking moment. This is not a problem ‘over there,’ in the far flung places of the world that we hear about on the news but here in Llantwit, Barry and throughout the Vale of Glamorgan. Your support is needed more than ever especially as the summer holidays are fast approaching and free school meals are no longer available.

As of this weekend, the Foodbank donation boxes will be back in both churches. I would be so grateful if you could get back into the habit of dropping in a food item from the JULY list or any donation that you choose to make.

Lemon squash, rice, long life fruit juice, rice pudding all tinned meat, tinned spaghetti, pasta sauces, UHT full fat milk, toilet paper, surface spray cleaners are all in short supply at the moment.

Some of you have expressed an interest in setting up a standing order. This is an excellent way of ensuring that you won’t ever feel that twinge of annoyance again as you leave the supermarket realising that you’ve ‘forgotten’ to pop something in the Foodbank collection box – again!
