‘Mystagogia’ talks

Following the success of the Lenten Talks, the Cornerstone Planning Group has arranged three ‘Mystagogia’ talks on three separate Wednesday evenings after Easter from 7.30pm to 9pm, with tea and coffee served from 7pm.  They will be held at the Cornerstone, Charles Street, Cardiff CF10 2SF on the Wednesdays, May 1st, May 15th and June 5th.  Subjects will include spirituality, pastoral contribution to the life and ministry of the parish, fulfilling your baptismal promises and looking towards Pentecost.  Whilst these talks were originally planned for RCIA Candidates who will have been received into full communion with the Church at Easter, they will be interesting for all parishioners to hear.  Everyone is welcome.  For more information, please e-mail madeleine.walters@rcadc.org

Bereavement Support in Parishes

The Archdiocese of Cardiff Family Life Commission are organising a training day for all those interested in either starting a Bereavement Support Group in their Parish or those who have joined a group over the last year. The course will be one day and will be held at the Pastoral Resource Centre on Saturday 6th July. The cost of the course will be £25 and this will include all materials and lunch.

There will also be a day for existing groups on 22nd June. This will give people the opportunity to share their ideas, worries and resources. There will also be an input from Papyrus, A charity working to raise the awareness of young suicide and support available. https://papyrus-uk.org/

We would urge anyone joining us on the 6th July training day to also join us on the 22nd June when information on setting up new groups will also be given.

Please register your interest for these courses by contacting: flc@rcadc.org

Forming Intentional Disciples

The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus

A conference is being put on in June in the diocese for both the Clergy and Laity. Saturday 15 June is the day on which lay people from the parishes in the diocese are invited to participate in the Conference. Parishes have been encouraged to organise reading and study sessions of the book written by Sherry Weddell entitled ‘Forming Intentional Disciples’. (Sherry Weddell is from the Catherine of Sienna Institute, Colorado Springs, USA.) It is hoped that at least 10 adults from each parish in the Bridgend Deanery will sign up to being involved in both the preparatory study sessions set out below and the Conference on Saturday 15 June. Please speak to your Parish Priest/Deacon if you wish to be part of this initiative. The Archbishop has been actively involved in the preparations and is positively encouraging us to respond. The Deanery Clergy have met and have decided to put on these series of talks for ourselves at St. Mary’s RC Church, 39 Ewenny Road, Bridgend CF31 3HS Tuesday evenings 7pm – please see dates below.

(To see Sherry Weddell online; Google search – “you tube sherry weddell forming intentional disciples” – there are several extracts from which to choose.)
