The Pastoral Care Project is a Christian organisation which pioneered pastoral care and ministry in care settings and in the community since 1994 and in 2002 achieved charitable status.
Working with many Christian ecumenical partners since 1994 they have raised awareness and produced resources to help alleviate the isolation felt by those suffering with dementia, as well as providing information and support enabling their carers to support them in the last part of their journey to the fullness of life.
Dementia Prayer Week began ten years ago in a care home. At the end of a Service of the Word several residents asked for a Day of Prayer. This has grown with the grace of God and so many people praying and taking part.
Here in the Archdiocese of Cardiff an Annual Mass has been celebrated during Dementia Prayer Week for over 5 years now and this year it is to be celebrated in Our Lady & St Michael’s church in Abergavenny on Wednesday March 14th at 2pm.
Please remember all those living with dementia, whether directly themselves or through supporting a family member or friend as well as those in professional roles, in your prayers and those of your parish during Dementia Prayer Week; you may also like to celebrate a Mass for those living with Dementia during this week.
